Why young girls should consider a career in Tech
Digital/IT industry is by far the fastest growing, tech professionals earn the highest salaries and are always in demand.
Research done in 2017, proved that the percentage of women in the tech industry has declined by 40% Source: www.ventureburn.com)
“Only 23% of tech jobs are held by women in South Africa – out of 236 000 ICT (tech) roles, women occupy 56 000 of them. As a sector, we need to hire women to improve diversity in the workplace (and it’s been proven that higher diversity equals higher productivity and profit). But we cannot find women with the required skills, and we cannot attract young women to the sector because when they look at conferences, in the media and inside technology companies, they mainly see men (who they can’t relate to), doing what they perceive to be ‘boring’ jobs”

Males are pursuing careers in technology and females aren’t considering a career in tech, the gender gap is shocking!
There are minor challenges for women and it is still a predominantly male industry, this will only change if more females get into the industry and prove that they are capable.
Tech professionals are amongst the highest paid professionals in the world!
The opportunities are endless, the ICT sector is ever changing and the demand for highly skilled tech professionals is on the rise, locally and internationally.
