ECO TOURISM BIKE CLUBS

  • Participants who attended the FIX-A-BIKE programme will be given on-road safety tips
  • Many townships/rural areas have few or limited places of interest and this leave many girls vulnerable to social ills.
  • Responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education that is eco-tourism.
  • Young girls or women will use their bicycle skills training to start bike clubs that encourages the general public to participate in riding bicycles to see special places of interests (Local monuments, crafts or events).
  • This can promote township cycling tour cooperatives where young girls/women can join a group for the guided tour to learn about historical, geography and key nature spots.
  • Sistagirl Foundation will help unlock sustainable eco-friendly initiatives that will empower unemployed rural women.
  • Some bicycle clubs can just be a friendly weekend family cycling or they could be in a form of monthly competition with sponsors.
  • Some bike clubs can attend to social needs within their community such as volunteering at children’s homes, women shelters and the elderly homes etc.
  • Eco tourism bike clubs are a great platform for women/girls to organize campaigns where different women can rally against women abuse, cancer awareness through organized tours.
  • Some bike clubs can offer “mother and daughter tours” packages where they could encourage strengthening of mother and daughter bonding experience.
  • All the eco tourism bike club owners/leaders would be people who attended the FIX-A-BIKE programme run by Greener Townships Skills Development Projects.
